Special Requirements

Pay Deposit Before Getting Admission Letter: Required, and You Will Need to Pay 2,000 RMB

You will need to pay 2,000 RMB as a deposit to the university before you can get admission letter, and usually it will be used as part of the tuition fee.

1. Good physical and mental health (no infectious or contagious diseases and no physical or mental disorders that could interfere with regular study).
2. Applicants should be under 30 by September 1st, 2023.

   17 years old student can apply, but need to find guardian in China

3. Applicants should hold a high school diploma by September 1st, 2023.
4. Applicants should be competent in performing scientific research and maintain a good academic grade level. The requirement for previous academic grade level is an average score of 75% and above. NPU accepts international standardized tests such as SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB/IGCSE/WAEC/GED. Applicants may provide other certificates as proof for academic performance.
5. Language

Applicants should have Chinese or English language proficiency that meets the requirement.

IELTS Academic Test overall 6.0 or above ( no less than 5.5 in each element ); TOEFL 80 or above ( My best Scores, iBT home edition, Essentials, DI code C317 are accepted ); PTE Academic Test (55 or above ); Duolingo English Test (115 or above ); Cambridge International Advanced LEVEL. English course -- A; SAT (1150 or above ); Cambridge Main Suite Examinations( FCE ≥169 or CAE ≥180 or CPE )

1. Nationality

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with valid passports. For the applicants who used to be Chinese citizens, they must acquire a foreign nationality and cancel Chinese nationality before April 30, 2019 and have a record of actual foreign residency for more than 2 years from April 30, 2019 to April 30, 2023 (record of actual foreign residency for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, referring to the entry and exit date signatures).

Applicants whose one or both parents are Chinese citizens must provide one of the following supporting documents:

1. The certificate proving that the applicant obtained his/hers foreign nationality at birth;
2. For applicants who used to be Chinese citizens but later immigrated to other countries, these applicants shall provide the certificates of cancellation of Chinese nationality.

Note: If you want to book our translation service, please pay and book it at least 2 weeks before the application deadline for submission of all documents;

If you want to book our guardian service, you need to pay and book it 2 months before the application deadline, just in case your application fails because of failed to submit application documents in time.

   Students who are exempt from providing English proficiency certificate should from countries listed in the downloaded file.

4. A Self-Introduction on prescribed form

   Applicants must download and fill it in in Chinese or English.

5. Physical Examination Certificate base on the prescribed format which should be produced within the last 6 months

   Applicants who are currently in China and have the Residence Permit or the Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card can use either of these two documents;scanned copies to substitute the Physical Examination Certificate.

7. Guardian’s Authorization Letter; the document should be an original copy and notarized.
8. Guardian’s Guarantee Letter; the guardian should provide the valid ID scanned copy.
9. Notarized copies of other awards or academic achievements (if any).
10. A scanned copy of the high school academic transcript for the entire high school period.

Academic Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization. Both original and official English translated version are required.

If the applicant has not yet completed the high school study, the applicant should provide the transcript for all semesters up to the time of application.

A scanned copy of the pre-graduation certificate is required if the applicant has not yet earned the high school graduation certificate. Please resubmit the original high school graduation certificate or original notarized high school graduation certificate prior to registration.

   One passport photo taken in recent time.

2. A copy of the personal information page of your valid passport

   Applicants currently residing in mainland China must also provide a scanned copy of the currently valid visa page or residence permit page.

3. Supporting Documents: Certificate of Good Conduct

Provided by your current/previous school/company in Chinese/English to improve your success rate.

1. CSCA Test Transcript(s)

   • You need to take the official CSCA test organized by the Chinese government and submit the corresponding subject result transcript(s) when applying.
   • The test covers Chinese (Humanities and STEM Chinese), Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Mathematics is required for all programs, while other subjects depend on the university’s specific requirements.
   • We are updating detailed information for each university, including the required subjects you have to take for each program and their score requirements. Once the updates are ready, you can check the attachment and information here for this university for the latest information. If no attachment is available yet, it usually means the university has not announced further details.
   • NPU accepts initial submission of exam registration screenshots no later than April 2026, with scores to be submitted later. The final deadline for supplementary submission is May 20,2026. Applicants with a valid HSK 5 certificate can be exempted from the Chinese test.

I: Further Explanation of Documents You Need to Provide:

1. Passport
   • A clear, full-color scan of your passport information page, showing your name, passport number, expiration date, and photo.
   • Some universities may also require blank visa pages, so you are advised to upload a few blank pages as well.
2. Photo
   • A recent passport-sized ID photo (2 x 2 inches) with a plain white background.
   • Full face visible, no headwear (except for religious reasons).
   • Taken within the last 6 months.
3. Highest Degree Graduation Certificate
   • A formal graduation certificate of your highest completed education level (e.g., Senior High School, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree).
   • If the document is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated into Chinese or English and notarized by an authorized translation agency or relevant authority. Self-translations are not accepted.
4. Highest Degree Academic Transcripts
   • Formal academic transcripts of your highest completed education level (e.g., Senior High School, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree), covering ALL academic years, NOT just the final year.
   • If the document is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated into Chinese or English and notarized by an authorized translation agency or relevant authority. Self-translations are not accepted.
5. Chinese Language Proficiency Certificate For Chinese Medium Programs
   • For Bachelor’s degree programs taught in Chinese, HSK Level 4 or above with a minimum score of 180 is usually required.
   • For Master’s degree programs, HSK Level 5 with a score of 180 or above is generally required. A few universities may require HSK Level 6.
   • Higher scores and levels are preferred.
6. English Language Proficiency Certificate For English Medium Programs
   • IELTS (6.0 or above) or TOEFL iBT (90 or above) is generally preferred.
   • If you are unable to provide these test results, you may submit alternative proof, such as a Duolingo English Test score or an official English proficiency certificate issued by your previous school/university, stating that the medium of instruction was English.
   • Higher scores are preferred.
7. Non-criminal Record Certificate
   • Please note that this document is generally valid for only 6 months(Few may require 3 months). For instance, if you submit your application in March, your non-criminal record must have been issued no earlier than September of the previous year.
   • Obtain this certificate from the local police station of your current residence, confirming that you have had no criminal record during the 6 months prior to the date of issuance.
   • If you are currently in China, the certificate must be issued by the local Chinese police.
   • If the document is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated and notarized by an authorized agency or relevant authority. Self-translations are not accepted.
8. Physical Examination Form
   • Download the form template, print it, and bring it to a hospital for the required medical tests. The hospital will complete the form with your results.
   • The medical examination must cover all items listed on the form.
   • Ensure your photo is attached and the form is stamped and signed by the hospital after the examination.
   • The medical results are valid for 6 months only, and few universities will require the report you did within the past 3 months.
   • Forms that are incomplete, lack a final physician’s suggestion, missing the attending physician’s signature, official hospital stamp, or applicant’s sealed photo or contain abnormal examination results will be considered invalid.
   • The document must be in English or Chinese.

II: If you ever studied in China, you MUST provide these extra documents:

1. A Non-objection Transfer Certificate(无异议转学证明).

   Issued by your previous Chinese university. This document should include your personal information, academic performance (including attendance), estimated graduation date, and your current university’s approval of your transfer application. It must also contain the university’s contact information (email and phone), issue date, and official stamp.

2. Scanned copies of all passport pages with entry and exit stamps for China.
3. Scanned copies of all visa pages (X1, X2, T, or others) and residence permit pages (if applicable).
4. A Recommendation Letter From Previous Chinese University.

Some universities may also request a recommendation letter from your previous university or other supporting documents.

III: If you are under 18 years old, you MUST provide these extra documents:

1. Notarized Guardian's Letter of Commitment
   • Students under 18 must find a Chinese guardian who resides in the same city as the university you are applying to, and complete the notarization process as guided in our tutorial video.
   • Upload a scanned copy of the notarized Guardian’s Letter of Commitment. This document must be certified in your home country and notarized in China.
   • Please note that a Notarization of Declaration (声明公证) issued in China is eventually required.
   • A scanned copy is acceptable at the initial stage. If the university later requires the original document or additional materials, we will inform you.
